“...nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” That’s the United States Postal Service motto.
It’s evidently the motto of Morehead Church as well when it comes to Prayer Walks with our neighbors. Here we are...Ellen, Gina, Sadie & I braving the rain to pray for our neighbors in Tuscany last Sunday at 4pm.
Our "appointed rounds" don't entail delivering mail, junk or otherwise. Our rounds include a petition to God to help, heal and make whole our neighbors in Tuscany. Our rounds are Good News for those who experience guilt, shame, remorse. Our rounds engulf those in Tuscany with grace upon grace, pressed down, shaken together, running over.
We saw a family celebrating a baby shower. We saw women ferried to their cars with umbrellas and shared raincoats. We waved to all cars and trucks. We got to know each other better. We took shelter under David and Nanci Cole’s front porch in the midst of the deluge. (THANK YOU NANCI AND DAVID!) We heard the Corum/Buckner pups barking.
All in all...it was a cleansing, refreshing walk. All in all we asked God to lead us to learning who our neighbors are and how we might pray for them, support them and serve them in the name of Jesus the Christ.
I solemnly urge you: proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. - 2 Timothy 4:1b-2
Grace and Peace,
Veranita
